Short answer
Samsara sells its own hardware and cloud, with datasheet models for North America and Europe. Wialon is hardware-agnostic software sold through partners. ENTEK IoT is a Saudi platform that puts fleet, diesel tanks and container smart locks on one map with Arabic alerts, but it has no Fleet report export, trips or driver scoring today.
Key takeaways
- Samsara pairs its own vehicle gateway and AI dash cams with its cloud; the VG55 datasheet lists only a North America and a Europe model.
- Wialon, by Gurtam, lists 4,100+ compatible GPS device models from 700+ manufacturers and is sold through 2,700+ partner companies, in the cloud or on-premise.
- ENTEK IoT covers fleet status, diesel tank levels and container smart locks on one map, with email, SMS and WhatsApp alerts in Arabic or English, usually within about a minute.
- ENTEK Fleet has no report export, no trips, no Fleet geofences and no driver scoring, and ENTEK IoT is not a Wasl integration.
- The fair test is a pilot on the same trucks and tanks, judged on alert timing, Arabic use and the reports you actually need.
01Two different models: own hardware, or any hardware through partners
Samsara and Wialon solve fleet tracking in different ways, and that difference shapes what a Saudi buyer can get. Samsara calls itself “The Connected Operations Platform”. It sells its own hardware, such as the VG55 vehicle gateway and AI dash cams, and connects it to its cloud and to more than 350 integrations. The VG55 datasheet promises GPS updates every second, and it lists two regional models: one for North America and one for Europe, on networks described as AT&T and partners, and Vodafone and partners. Wialon, from Gurtam, works the other way. It is software that lists more than 4,100 compatible GPS device models from over 700 manufacturers, and it is sold and supported through more than 2,700 partner companies, which can put their own brand on it. Wialon publishes a cloud edition and an on-premise edition called Wialon Local. So with Samsara you choose a vendor and its devices, and with Wialon you mostly choose a local partner.
02What to check first as a Saudi buyer
Feature lists look similar, so start with the questions that decide whether a platform works here at all. First, hardware approval: from 1 November 2026, new certificates of conformity for covered cellular devices must follow SASO 3114:2026, so ask any vendor for the SABER certificate of the exact model you will install. Second, the network: a device built for named North American or European networks needs a clear answer on which Saudi operators it uses and who manages the SIM cards. Third, language: ask to see the screens your supervisors and drivers will use in Arabic, and the language of the alert messages. Fourth, alert channels: many Saudi teams act on WhatsApp first, so ask whether alerts reach WhatsApp, SMS and email, and how fast. Fifth, data: ask where the data is hosted and how you export it if you leave. Sixth, local support: ask who installs and services the devices in your cities, and in which currency you pay.
03What ENTEK IoT does today
ENTEK IoT is built in Riyadh and puts several asset types on one map: vehicles, diesel tanks, container locks, construction machines and generators. In Fleet, you get live status (moving, idling, parked, offline), a map, vehicle detail with speed, fuel, distance and voltage, a route history of up to 7 days, load weight from a weight sensor, and driver fuel receipts that a manager approves or rejects. In Fuel Tank, you see litres and percentage per tank, Healthy, Low (below 35%) and Critical (below 20%) states, refuel and drop events, and a sudden-drop alert. In Smart Lock, trips have stop zones, unlock is allowed only inside the zone, proof photos come from the live camera only, every action lands in a trip audit log, and reports export to PDF, Excel and CSV. Devices connect over cellular, the platform works with more than 1,500 tracker and sensor models, and alert rules are checked every 30 seconds with delivery by email, SMS or WhatsApp, usually within about a minute.
04What ENTEK IoT does not do, so you can rule it out early
An honest comparison has to list the gaps. ENTEK Fleet has no report export today, so if your finance or HSE team needs monthly fleet reports in Excel or PDF, that is not built in. Fleet does not include trips, geofences drawn inside Fleet or driver scoring; platform-wide alert rules can still warn when a device leaves a drawn zone, but that is not the same as a trip report or a driver league table. ENTEK IoT is not a Wasl integration, so it does not cover the transport authority link for operating cards. Alerts are not instant: rules are checked every 30 seconds and messages usually arrive within about a minute, by email, SMS or WhatsApp, with no push notifications. About 8 device models are tested end to end; the rest of the 1,500+ compatible models should be checked in a pilot. If dash cams, driver coaching or tachograph-style logging are your main need, a vendor built around those features may fit better.
05How to decide: run the same pilot on every option
Do not decide from a demo. Pick five vehicles and one diesel tank that already cause questions, and run each shortlisted platform on them for the same weeks. Write down, before you start, the three events you care about most, for example a tank level dropping overnight, a truck leaving its site after hours, and a container door opening away from a stop. Trigger each event on purpose, note the time, and record when the alert reached the supervisor’s phone and in which language. Then ask each vendor for the exact report your manager reads every month, built from the pilot data. Compare the full cost too: device, installation, SIM, subscription and support, in SAR. For ENTEK, the hardware for a pilot can be bought on the ENTEK marketplace at entek.ai, or requested through an RFQ when a model has no listed price, so the pilot devices come from verified Saudi suppliers.

Questions
Is Samsara available in Saudi Arabia?
The VG55 vehicle gateway datasheet we read lists only a North America model and a Europe model. Ask Samsara directly which model, network and certificate would apply to a Saudi installation before you plan around it.
Why would I choose Wialon?
Wialon works with a very wide device list, over 4,100 models, and offers an on-premise edition. You buy it through a partner, so the quality of the local partner, its Arabic support and its installers matter as much as the software.
Can ENTEK IoT export fleet reports to Excel?
Not today. Fleet report export is not available. Smart Lock reports do export to PDF, Excel and CSV, and ENTEK IoT has a REST API for teams that pull data into their own reports.
Can I keep my current trackers if I move to ENTEK IoT?
Often yes. ENTEK IoT is compatible with more than 1,500 tracker and sensor models, though only about 8 are tested end to end. Add one of your devices in a pilot and check that every reading you need arrives.
Does ENTEK IoT handle the Wasl link for operating cards?
No. ENTEK IoT is not a Wasl integration. Use an approved device and provider for the transport authority link, and use ENTEK IoT for operations such as fuel, locks and fleet status.
